My professor, told us yesterday to write a short letter to ourselves about our thoughts on the 2016 election, before the actual voting took place, and look at it afterwards and then four years from now.
I’m not going to tell you who I think you should vote for.
I actually had a conversation with someone today about the stress that the election can cause, and I’m deciding to talk about that instead.
OF COURSE, I have my opinion on who you should vote for and why. We all do. There are strongly opinionated people on both sides of the coin. There are people who have their opinions quietly because they do not feel strongly about either. There are people who have decided that, because of their conscience, they cannot and will not be voting this time around.
There are people who believe that their candidate is THE answer for America, and there are people that believe who they’re voting for is simply the lesser of two evils.
My professor went on to say that, whoever wins this election, it will be a MESS.
But all opinions aside, I just want to say, rest be assured,
Jesus IS in control.
I realized it so evidently today. The place I went to vote didn’t have the sticker that says “I voted” which was honestly, at 7:30 in the morning, the thing I was most looking forward to. I then walked into a store, and there on the counter was a single “I voted” sticker that someone had left. I fully am convinced Jesus placed it there for me.
Then I lost my license. Drove around all kingdom come and searched my car multiple times. As I walked back from a building where I had asked if anyone had found a license, I opened my car and there on the seat was my license. I am fully convinced Jesus placed it there for me.
Then I was 10 minutes late for my train only to discover that the train was also 10 minutes late. I am fully convinced Jesus did that.
Little things happened all morning that just convinced me to write to everyone I know that JESUS IS IN CONTROL.
Whoever wins this election is meant to win. Jesus is NOT defeated or caught off guard.
I am His and in His will, so whatever happens… friends, we are going to be okay.
Yes, this election is important, so vote your conscience. Vote how you believe Jesus would want you to vote, but then don’t stress. Jesus isn’t stressed.
Wise words, dear! I posted on Facebook this morning, “In Christ Alone, Our Hope is Found”. So very true! As long as we base our hope on Jesus and His Sovereignty, then we have nothing to fear. God bless you, Megan!
(P.S. For the record, our polling place didn’t have stickers either…..I still don’t have one, but will GLADLY stop at Wawa later to see if anyone happened to leave one there for me!)
Dear Megan! I thank God you are seeing God as Sovereign in everything that happens around you! Placing your faith in Him and having this assurance will guide you through the paths He has chosen for you in His grace. Love. Uncle Ricardo – Keep on writing!!
